GPS-over-fibre systems convert RF signals to light pulses, transport the light over several Km of fibre (if required) and converts light back to RF at the end point.

Optical fibre is cost-effective and easier to install than heavy, thick coaxial cable.

Fibre is immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI) which means that it can be installed in the vicinity of high-voltage cables if necessary.
